This book is very helpful and definitely add to our understanding after reading it. It's a good sentence for teaching the preposition "bevor". It was a suggested translation for 'shut'.

  7. All three options seem right for me. Well, "zu Bette" sounds a bit old-fashioned - but it's not wrong. Yes, and there is a reason for that: you can either address the person you're talking to in the formal or the informal way, but you can't mix both within one sentence. It was marked wrong, but the correct answer replaced 'vorher' with 'ehe'?

Nothing else was marked wrong. Can anyone explain? The conjunction "before" translates to German as "bevor" or "ehe". Unfortunately in English the translation of "vorher" is "before" as well, though these two are different things and there is even a third word, namely the preposition "vor", which again corresponds to "before" in English. The given main solution may sound a little old fashioned or pretentious, but is good German, as well as the also accepted "ins Bett".
